Hi I'm Sarah,

I was born and raised in Australia, where the turtles lay their eggs on the eastern coast of Australia, the city of Bundaberg.

I grew up in a family of craftswomen, and my grandma in particular was an oil-painter. I loved visiting Grandma and Grandpa’s country house, often littered with ornate picture frames and paintings she was working on, seeing her latest abstract experiments and hearing about her latest art group adventures. Her bold rosy carpet was one of my favourite things as was her rose garden and the local rose festival.

I began oil painting myself when a friend took me to her oil painting classes. Oil painting can seem intimidating but I soon warmed up and absolutely loved the process of exploring textures and especially tones! I’ve dived into learning portraiture, mixed media, pottery and acrylics. I now love to teach others and It’s wonderful to get to be part of seeing others light up in finding expression through their art.

Beauty for Ashes

My rose paintings are an ongoing series collectively called Beauty for Ashes. After a hard season, instinctively I felt I needed to paint beauty back into my life through painting roses -Beauty soothes and lifts human spirit.

I feel encouraged to keep creating beautiful things and share them with the world around me.
